Inclus x ESF webinar: "Europe squeezed between US and China - how should companies prepare?"
In this Inclus x Economic Security Forum webinar, Mikael Wigell, Founder of the Economic Security Forum, and Mikaeli Langinvainio, CEO and Co-founder of Inclus, discussed how geoeconomics is reshaping the business environment for European companies.
The conversation focused on how trade, technology, finance, regulation, subsidies, and access to critical inputs are increasingly used as strategic tools. For companies, this means that economic interdependence is no longer only a source of efficiency, but also a growing source of risk.
A key theme was the dual pressure Europe faces from the United States and China. Access to US markets and technologies is becoming more conditional, while dependencies on China expose companies to selective and unpredictable counter-pressure. As a result, there is no longer a neutral position for companies operating across these systems.
The speakers emphasized that preparedness is more important than prediction. Companies need to understand their political and geoeconomic dependencies, monitor early signals, identify critical choke points, and build response options before pressure materializes.
The webinar concluded that long-term resilience will favor companies that proactively integrate geoeconomic analysis into strategy, risk management, and decision-making.
